DAY 2 - January 6, 2026 - Devoted to the One True God

DAY 2  - Devoted to the One True God

Exodus 3:1-4  Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.” So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”

Exodus 3:5-6  Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.

Moses turned aside in his journey to see a wonder - a bush that burned with fire, but was not consumed. God draws us to Himself in many ways. He reveals himself to us in response to our curiosity. We should note that He didn’t speak to Moses until after Moses had turned aside to see the bush. When He did speak, Moses answered.

We should never be too busy, too worried or too important to pass by a wondrous sight to not stop and look. It could lead to something. For Moses it led to his calling and life-long assignment being revealed to him. God revealed Himself, Moses responded and the Lord elevated him, in a moment of time.

There was prophetic significance at the birth of Moses. He was abandoned by his mother in order to save his life. He was raised in Pharaoh’s home as a prince. When he learned of his heritage and tried to intervene in a dispute, he committed murder. Then, he fled from Egypt to the desert. There, he married a Midianite woman and became a shepherd. He was eighty years when he met God face to face.

God had chosen Moses to be his devoted servant and the Deliverer of Israel. Moses had lived his entire life up to that time without God in his life. In one encounter, he became devoted to the One True God, was sanctified for service and then empowered to act in the name of YAHWEH - the great “I AM”.

This life-changing encounter was sealed with an act of worship. Moses stood on holy ground and removed his shoes. There would be nothing separating this man from his God. The Presence infused Moses from the top of his head to the bottoms of his feet.

Grounding is the phenomenon of the electro-magnetic field of the earth affecting human physiology by “grounding” us. By absorbing electrons from the earth through our bare feet, proponents claim that we can reduce inflammation, stress, and pain in our bodies. Can you imagine what was transferred into the body of Moses from the ground that hosted the very Presence of God? While Moses honored God, God infused Moses with the capacity to complete his assignment. Way beyond health benefits, God gave Moses his first deposit of glory. Devotion can release greatness.

Luke 20:37  [Jesus said] But even Moses showed in the burning bush passage that the dead are raised, when he called the Lord “the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’

2 Corinthians 3:12-18  Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech—unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away.  But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains un-lifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.  But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.  Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.  But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Colossians 1:24-27  I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church,  of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God, the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints.  To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

MEDITATION

• When did you know, without reservation, that you would follow the path God had for you in life?

• Are you curious to know more of God? Why or why not?

• Are you walking barefoot, regularly, in His Presence? Write about what that looks like for you.
