The Glory Of The Resurrection
John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
Jesus, Himself, IS Resurrection. He not only was raised from the dead Himself, He is the source of all resurrection. If we are pursuing God’s Glory we are pursuing the Risen Christ who raises the dead.
It really doesn’t matter when this will happen. It matters most that it WILL happen. Resurrection is my future and yours. Life is the most incredible gift we have received from God. Everything about Salvation ultimately results in Life to us. Eternal life to be exact. The mechanics of our salvation are all about forgiveness, repentance, faith and grace. These are the means of salvation but the result of salvation is Life.
One could argue that the result of salvation is a relationship with God. They would be correct. But, it’s actually the same thing. He is full of Life and knowing Him cannot help but release Life in us. Knowing Him is the key to our eternal experience of Life. Now, since we have already entered a relationship with Him through faith, doesn’t that mean that the opportunity to experience LIFE is already ours?
John 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 17:2-3 As You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
Resurrection is the manifestation of God’s Glory. Since we are pursuing His Glory during this fast, we should also be pursuing greater and greater demonstrations of Resurrection Life. Interacting with the power of Resurrection Life is not off-limits since it is already present inside every Believer.
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Pursuing Glory looks like demonstrations of power and expressions of Life. We are to be FULL OF LIFE. If we are not, there is something opposing our life. We could call it circumstances, bad luck, depression or sickness. But, whatever we call it we should not accept it. With a dark, twisted sarcasm we often say of these things: “That’s just life,” as if to say, “what else can we expect?” But is it life, really? Doesn’t that sound more like death?
John 10:7-10 Then Jesus said to them again, “Most assuredly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
I suggest that if we are not experiencing a fullness of life it is because we keep using the wrong door to go in and out. The Door, Jesus, leads us out to feed and be nurtured in His pasture and then He leads us to come back in and be safe and protected in the sheep enclosure. He is the Good Shepherd. We should not accept the continued harassment of evil things that would rob us of life.
As our experience of Glory goes up, our experience of Life will also increase. We should expect that. If that is not our experience, we need a resurrection in that area of our life because death, the Robber, has somehow crept in. But, we should not fear, because we have a Good Shepherd Who takes care of us.

ACTIVATION
As we have noted, embracing Glory requires a renewed mind (Romans 12:2). We have already discussed using our imagination to rewire our expectations. But a renewed mind also requires some good old fashioned mental vigilance to go with a well-developed imagination. Practice being a sheep in the enclosure. Allow the Good Shepherd to lead you in and out. Become aware of His goodness directed to you. His love for you. His Spirit inside you is a Spirit of Resurrection. That means He’s really good at bringing dead things back to life. Allow this Glory to work in you. To shine inside you and illuminate your life. Bask in the Sonlight of His Glory. Breathe in His Life. Breathe out any residue of death. Accept His Glory coming into you. Receive it for yourself. Be grateful for it.
