LIVING FROM OUR SPIRITUAL INHERITANCE
“The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ...” Romans 8:16
The beauty and miracle of who we are through our faith in Jesus Christ is gloriously displayed in the inheritance every son of His receives.
The quality and magnitude of this inheritance is understood most fully in light of the One who shares it with us. We are co-heirs with Christ. What He has received by right of resurrection He freely shared with the redeemed.
“Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” Colossians 1:12-13.
These humble, fragile bodies we live in are capable of hosting the very presence of God! We are inhabited by the Spirit of Resurrection. When we are weak, He is strong. When we struggle, He rules. It is the difference made by His resurrection victory. We must learn to walk on His side of the cross, not the side we are more familiar with, if we are ever to live fully from our inheritance (Romans 8:11).
To live from our inheritance requires prayer, a fasting attitude and obedient action.
We pray to connect our spirit to His Spirit and to His purpose. All prayer begins from need and supplication. But true prayer quickly grows into an abiding connection with His presence and an intercession whose passion is to see His will done on earth as it is in heaven. It is the unfolding discovery of our sonship (Matthew 6:9-13).
We fast to bring focus to the importance of our spiritual life. Our sensitivity, awareness and ability to interact with the unseen realm is our great responsibility as Christians. Fasting helps us anchor our faith beyond the physical realm into the unseen realm. A fasting attitude understands that it is never just about the things we fast from, it is also about the things we reach for when we deny our physical hungers. We set aside the pleasure of this world for the reward of seeing the One who is invisible (Hebrews 11:27).
Our obedient actions align us perfectly with the design of heaven. We must never be motivated by anything other than to see the agenda of heaven established and carried out on Earth.
When we pray and fast and move in agreement with heaven, breakthrough happens. What an incredible opportunity we have here at the beginning of 2024 to set the precedent for a year of breakthrough, provision, salvation, healing and breakthrough! Let’s join together for 21 days of pressing toward a more full expression of the inheritance we have all received and share together in Jesus Christ!
“Is not this the fast that I choose:
to loose the bonds of wickedness,
to undo the straps of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to break every yoke?
Is it not to share your bread with the hungry
and bring the homeless poor into your house;
when you see the naked, to cover him,
and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?”
Isaiah 58:6-7
