Day 8

FAITH
“So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, “Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them” (Mark 11:22-24).

We live in a day when the Holy Spirit is moving throughout the earth performing wonders. These incredible exploits are done in the mighty name of Jesus through the prayers and acts of Believers moving in faith and power. This display of glory is appropriate for the revealing of the sons of God. After all, our inheritance releases power and changes the world.

It matters that we see miracles in our day. We do not hope for just the  occassional blessing or answered prayer from on high. As His children, we should expect answers to our most impossible prayers. It would be unimaginable to demonstrate the extravagant love of God to the Nations without miracles, signs and wonders. How could we ever describe Him in His fullness without demonstrations of His overwhelming might?

“Peter saw his opportunity and addressed the crowd. “People of Israel,” he said, “what is so surprising about this? And why stare at us as though we had made this man walk by our own power or godliness? 13 For it is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—the God of all our ancestors—who has brought glory to his servant Jesus by doing this. This is the same Jesus whom you handed over and rejected before Pilate, despite Pilate’s decision to release him. 14 You rejected this holy, righteous one and instead demanded the release of a murderer. 15 You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. And we are witnesses of this fact! 16    “Through faith in the name of Jesus, this man was healed—and you know how crippled he was before. Faith in Jesus’ name has healed him before your very eyes” (Acts 3:12 NLT).

We know that Jesus wants His church to move in power. Why else would He take the time to provide instruction for the moving of mountains. Mountains represent every impossible obstacle that stands before us. Whether it is the mountain of sickness, poverty, opposition or even death. Jesus assures us that we can make it move out of our way.

Jesus instructs us repeatedly to speak to the mountain with faith. It is not to be a wish we declare, it is to be a command. Therefore, it must be weighted with faith. There can be no room for doubt.

I’ve found that the best way to deal with doubt is to listen for the mind of the Lord regarding a matter before I pray. If I only pray from my desire I will always wonder if my prayer is selfish or misguided. But, when I pray from His heart, whether the matter is small or great, I am assured of breakthrough. True faith is centered on the person of Christ not on my own effort or need.

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! (Matthew 7:7-11).

"Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us" (1 John 5:14).

I know God wants to display His glory. I know God wants to restore His people. I know God wants the Nations to know Him. Because I know these things, I can pray with confidence.

Miracles are not an extravagance. They are a necessity in order to fully display the greatness of our God , His incredible love and His indescribable gift.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:6-8).

“Now when He concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum. 2 And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die. 3 So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant. 4 And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving, 5 “for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue.” 6 Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, “Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. 7 Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. 8 For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, “Go,’ and he goes; and to another, “Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 9 When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!” 10 And those who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well who had been sick” (Luke 7:1-10).
