Arise, Shine!
Isaiah 60:1-2
Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.
2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the LORD will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.
We have a mandate and an obligation to get up and shine with Glory. It isn’t about recognition and it isn’t even about retribution against evil. It’s about the revelation of Who God is to the entire world. There is no One Higher. There is no One more holy, more powerful, more worthy or more glorious. “I AM That I AM” is revealing Himself through the Church to the entire power structure of demonic darkness. He is declaring His Glory to all Nations!
Isaiah 66:19 … They will proclaim my glory among the nations.
Habakuk 2:14 For the earth will be filled
With the knowledge of the glory of the LORD,
As the waters cover the sea.
Our role as sons of God is to reveal the Glory of God to the World. This is the essence of Romans 8:
Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Glory is not only light, it is power. All of creation will rejoice because of the arrival of the glorious liberty of the sons of God. There is a fascinating link between the restoration of Glory to the Church and the healing that is coming to all creation. We, as the Church, have always been meant to displace the Powers, the Principalities and the regional Dominions that oppress the people of the nations. We are to do that by revealing the glorious victory of Jesus Christ through His resurrection.
Ephesians 3:8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; 10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.

ACTIVATION
We are commanded to shine. Christians often struggle with the idea of shining. We think that only God should shine. But, in reality, when we shine He is shining through us. To me, it is actually false humility to think that we should not put ourselves forward. One of the most prominent qualities of Christians in the Book of Acts is their boldness. Spirituality is not defined by piety alone. It is defined by our bold proclamation of the power at work in us. That is how Glory emanates and expands from our life to around the world.
Acts 4:29-31 Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, 30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.” 31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
What can you do to boldly step into opportunities to shine with Glory? Speak truth? Pray for sick? Demonstrate compassion? Why not practice the Gifts of the Spirit which are present within you? (I love Bill Johnson’s saying - “The Holy Spirit is locked inside every Believer - and He wants out!”)
