DAY 17 - January 21, 2025

Living from Glory

When we choose to live from Glory more will happen. Jesus had just come down from the Mount of Transfiguration, He had just received the approval of His Heavenly Father (“This is my Beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”). He was so saturated by Glory that His face shone like the sun and His clothes became white as the brightest light. Upon reaching the bottom of Mount Tabor, He was confronted by the father of a demonized boy. The father appealed to Jesus for help after the efforts of the disciples had been ineffective. Jesus called out their faithlessness and the perversity of that generation.

Matthew 17:15-18    “Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is an epileptic and suffers severely; for he often falls into the fire and often into the water. 16 So I brought him to Your disciples, but they could not cure him.” 17   Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.” 18 And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.

Jesus had just come out of the atmosphere of Heaven on the Mount of Transfiguration when he performed the emotional, yet powerful deliverance and restoration of an oppressed family.  Because He lived in the Glory and carried the mountain top experience with Him always, He exceeded, by a great measure, what the disciples had been able to do for the boy and His father.

Matthew 17:19-21   Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”  20   So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. 21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

Synchronizing the Glory we have experienced with the Glory yet to come is the secret advantage of mountaintop experiences. Have you ever wondered what Jesus did all night when He would seclude Himself in prayer on the mountaintop? I truly believe that, for Jesus, every night of prayer was a transfiguration experience. He allowed the disciples to witness His nightly encounters a single time. When He announced to the disciples that, “This kind only comes out by prayer and fasting,” He wasn’t referring to the level of demonic power He faced. He was referring to the level of Glory He maintained through a devoted life of prayer and fasting. The Glory He walked in was a surpassing Glory.

ACTIVATION

We are currently in a dedicated time of prayer and fasting for these three weeks. This is not something we can do continuously. But, it is something we should do regularly. In order to see higher level of Glory in our midst and through our lives we must be familiar with the Glory on the mountaintop. There will always be valleys in our lives, but we must never camp there. We must never define our life by the things that happen during our lowest moments. We should always be hopeful, always be grateful to the God who lifts us out of the miry clay to place our feet firmly on the rock. It is our great responsibility to synchronize the struggle of our lives with the Glory of Heaven (“As in Heaven, so on Earth”).

How do we do this? We pray. We fast. We climb the mountain. We declare our victory in the presence of Glory. We give thanks to God always.
