WEEK THREE - SURPASSING GLORY
Glory and Breakthrough
Matthew 27:62-64 On the next day, which followed the Day of Preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees gathered together to Pilate, 63 saying, “Sir, we remember, while He was still alive, how that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise.’ 64 Therefore command that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest His disciples come by night and steal Him away, and say to the people, “He has risen from the dead.’ So the last deception will be worse than the first.”
Matthew 27:65-66 Pilate said to them, “You have a guard; go your way, make it as secure as you know how.” 66 So they went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard.
Matthew 28:1-4 Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. 4 And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.
Pilate granted the Jewish leaders to use the authority of the Roman Empire to seal the tomb of Jesus Christ and set a guard at it’s entrance in order to suppress the possible claims of His disciples about a resurrection. The entire weight of the Roman Empire was represented by the seal placed upon the tomb. To move the stone and break the seal would be would call down dire consequences on the offender.
Yet, when the stone was rolled away there was such a demonstration of power and lightning visibly shaking the earth and casting aside the stone that the guards could not function or even stand before such an awesome display of Glory. In that moment, the authority and influence of the Roman Empire and the Jewish Sanhedrin was put on notice - HE IS RISEN!
Ephesians 1:17-21 … and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the greatest demonstration of God’s Glory that has ever occurred in Human history. His Glory is the secret behind all breakthrough. His Presence always goes before us when His enemies are destroyed.
Psalm 68:1-3
Let God arise,
Let His enemies be scattered;
Let those also who hate Him flee before Him.
2 As smoke is driven away,
So drive them away;
As wax melts before the fire,
So let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
3 But let the righteous be glad;
Let them rejoice before God;
Yes, let them rejoice exceedingly.
Some of the circumstances Believers face are designed for us grow and develop character. But, some circumstances are designed for us to learn about breakthrough. Breakthrough is the point of contact between opposing forces or authority when momentum shifts toward Glory. There is always a threshold when events cease moving one direction and begin to move in the opposite direction. Death reigned from Adam to Christ. But everything has shifted now. Death has broken before the overwhelming might of Glory.
Pursuing God’s Glory MUST persuade us that we must embrace The Spirit of Breakthrough in the coming days of Glory.
1 Corinthians 15:47-49 The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. 48 As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.

2 Samuel 5:20 So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, “The LORD has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.” Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim (Translated: The Lord/Master of Breakthrough)

Don’t be Stopped by ANY obstacle
See with the eyes of your faith - The size of your faith will be determined by the scope of what your spiritual eyes can see. (Heb. 11:1)
Stand until you experience Breakthrough - Struggle strengthens you (Eph. 6:12-13)
Do what He tells you to do (Mark 14:29)
