ABIDING
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you”  John 15:7.

Abiding in Christ happens when Believers remain connected - like a branch to a vine - to the Lord, in order to draw life and deepen our intimacy with Him (John 15:1-5).

If we view prayer as an activity rather than a state of being, we will miss the potential that prayer has to release incredible spiritual resources to us. Abiding represents a constant awareness that we are in Christ and Christ is in us. This awareness makes us more available for spiritual insight, encouragement and opportunities. In fact, more spiritual life is promised to the one who abides.

“He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me” John 6:56-57.

Feeding on Christ is believing in Christ to receive a full serving of all He died to provide for us. Communion is a celebration and participation of the life of Christ. Through the bread and the cup, we recognize and receive the benefits of our salvation; forgiveness, redemption, healing, community and power. All these things together are a source of life to us through the Holy Spirit. Feeding is abiding (John 6; Luke 22:14-23; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.)

As sons and daughters, our identity as His children is deepened and established through abiding. The Holy Spirit speaks to our human spirit confirming the identity of our Father to us. He teaches us to say, “Abba!” (Romans 8:16)

It is our own responsibility as His children to grow into this most precious and awesome identity we have been given. The reality of our sonship is completely true of us today- right now. But, every passing day it continues to unfold more and more clearly for others to see. Because of this great hope we have, we press ourselves toward His likeness. We rest in Him. We abide in Him

“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure”  1 John 3:1.
