COMPELLED BY LOVE
"For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; 15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again" (2 Corinthians 5:14-16).
To be compelled means to be irresistibly motivated by the love we have received. We have been co-missioned with the same mission and assignment Jesus accepted from the Father.
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,
Because the LORD has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound."
Isaiah 61:1-2
So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained" (John 20:21).
We have been sent out just as Jesus was. His mission is our mission. His assignment is the same one that has assigned to us. We are called to preach the message of the gospel. We have been called to heal the brokenhearted, to set captives free and to open prison doors.
The love that motivated the Father to send Jesus to Earth is the same love that should inspire us to exploits. The good works that God prepared for us to walk in (Eph. 2:10) are the kind of works that demonstrate the love of God to the world. Taht is our mission. To love as He loves.
"Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another " (1 John 4:7).
