Holy Ground
Exodus 3:1 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock to the back of the desert, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire from the midst of a bush. So he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, but the bush was not consumed. 3 Then Moses said, “I will now turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush does not burn.”
Exodus 3:4 So when the LORD saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!”
And he said, “Here I am.”
Exodus 3:5 Then He said, “Do not draw near this place. Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.” 6 Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.
Curiosity drives the pursuit of Glory. Invitations from the Lord are numerous but the responses to those invitations are few. Scripture says that the Angel of the Lord appeared to Moses in the fire. Many think “The Angel of the Lord” is a pre-incarnate appearance of the Christ. A physical manifestation of The Lord’s Presence.
The ground around the burning bush became holy because of God’s Presence. The Lord Himself was there to speak with Moses. Moses was instructed to remove his shoes so that nothing profane or unclean should enter the Holy Place. But, the removal of his shoes also assured God that nothing would come between Moses and Himself. The Glory seeped up from the ground into Moses even as he honored the Holy One in whose Presence he stood.
Moses was afraid. He stood in awe. God was inviting him into a conversation far above his station and was calling him out by name. God knew who he was. Moses, a fugitive from justice, felt undeserving of this heavenly attention.
God was re-defining how Moses would later see himself. Moses could not see past his failures and mistakes, but he would eventually be transformed by the Glory of God into the greatest leader of the Old Testament. It all began with God removing the barriers between Himself and this man - take off your shoes. Moses grounded himself in God. Next, God identified Moses by his fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God linked Moses to the great promise and Covenant He had made with Abraham.
Moses had forgotten who he was. The Lord reminded Him that he was not forgotten and that he was known in heaven by his name and lineage. The Lord spoke the identity of Moses over him. We are who God says we are. Our identity is restored and waiting for us from within His glory.
Before we can do any great thing for God we must be convinced about who we are. In Christ we are sons of God. We are Heirs who are seated with Christ in heavenly places. We have received an immense commission and a weighty responsibility to reveal His Person to the world. We are the Light of the World. His Light is His Person is His Glory is inside us!

What kind of person will you need to become in order to see all these things fulfilled in your life? Make declarations* about who are becoming. Use I AM Statements** to shape your future.
As you fast and pray, ask God to fulfill all these things in your life.
*Declarations are statements based on the truth of Scripture and in affirmation of prophetic words spoken over us or received through prayer and the laying on of hands. We should proclaim these words out loud and often.
1 Timothy 1:18 This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare…
** I AM Statements are declarations that begin with the phrase “I AM” and are filled in with what God says about us. The Lord Jesus Christ is our example for how an I AM Statement is formulated.
Here are two examples of I AM statements (there are several more in the Gospels):
John 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
John 10:11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.
