DAY 10 - January 14 - What Do We See?

DAY 10 - January 14 - What Do We See?

Ephesians 1:15-23 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power 20 which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. 22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Paul understood something that every Believer needs to know; anything is possible for us when the eyes of our understanding see God clearly. He is talking about our spiritual capacity to see and understand spiritual realities. The New International Version describes this as, “The eyes of our heart”. Our spiritual heart is different than our physical heart. Both are absolutely necessary for life to flow through us.

Spiritual vision allows us to understand what is happening around us in a way that may or may not be visible to our physical eyes. The reason Paul feels this kind of vision is important to us is that it will release hope in us. Most of what matters to our spiritual health and life is invisible to our physical eyes. That’s why we need a heart that sees these invisible realities. Paul is very specific: we need to see the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance and the exceeding greatness of His power toward us (that is working in our behalf). Seeing all this is incredibly motivating!

When we see what the Lord is freely giving to us as His children, we begin to see the scope of what He has actually accomplished. He has big plans for us. He is calling you right now to share an incredible future with Him.You are His heir! There is a glorious inheritance just waiting for you to receive it. You are incredibly, unimaginably rich! He is directing His power to work in your behalf. That’s not only great, it is EXCEEDINGLY great! The resources available to you are shockingly vast. They are over-the-top extravagant. They are way more than you might have believed possible. YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!

Without seeing these incredible realities, we might struggle to embrace the responsibility we have as the Church to create an atmosphere where miracles will happen. An atmosphere is a space where the people of God, through the combination of faith, expectancy, community and worship have cultivated a place for the Spirit of God to dwell.

All miracles begin with the Presence of God. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is our earth-shattering victory. All the powers we cannot see, but that so many are subject to, MUST bow before His Name. He is LORD. There is no other. The Church is the lens through which this incredible victory shines. To focus the light of His Glory on Earth for all to see. It is an amazing display. It is the Lord in the Church doing wonders. Can’t you see it?

Acts 7:55-56 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, 56 and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”

Romans 8:16-17 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NLT That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

Ephesians 2:19-22 Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, 20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Ephesians 3:8-11 NLT Though I am the least deserving of all God’s people, he graciously gave me the privilege of telling the Gentiles about the endless treasures available  to them in Christ. 9 I was chosen to explain to everyone this mysterious plan that God, the Creator of all things, had kept secret from the beginning. 10 God’s purpose in all this was to use the church to display his wisdom in its rich variety to all the unseen rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was his eternal plan, which he carried out through Christ Jesus our Lord.

MEDITATION
• Read about the martyrdom of Stephen in Acts 7. What was happening in the physical was not what was happening in the spiritual realm. Instead of focusing on the rocks flying at him and battering his body, he focused on Jesus. He saw something that encouraged him and gave him hope for the future. Instead of sitting, Jesus was standing to welcome him into Heaven.

• Reflect on some hard things you have gone through. What would it have been like to be able to see what was actually happening in the spiritual realm? Can you imagine that now? Ask the Lord to open the eyes of your heart. Try it out. It might be fuzzy at first, but I’m sure it will clear up with use.

• As your spiritual vision improves, consciously decide to accept your responsibility to prepare a place for God to Dwell in our church. Then, let’s see what happens.
